![]() Tracks like "Coquelicot, Claude and Lecithin Dance Aboard the Ocean Liner" and "Upon Settling on the Frozen Island, Lecithin Presents Claude and Coquelicot With His Animal Creations for Them to Approve or Reject (The Rejected Inventions Walk Towards the Reverse Magnetizer)" seem like they form a good trio despite their obvious differences. ![]() ![]() Along with her soon-to-be-friends Claude, (most likely) the narrator from 'Peacock Parasols', and Lecithin, the inventor, they go on mundane adventures like having a tea party to very exciting ones like facing off against zombies. This time, we follow the story of the Efeblum (alien) Coquelicot as she visits the Earth as a human. Like I said, it is a concept album: a story-based concept album. What is 'Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse'? They once again go for a concept album, but they add elements of ballade, spoken word, etc. Of Montreal once again change directions by doing something interesting: finding an in-between of 'The Gay Parade' and 'The Bedside Drama: A Petite Tragedy' while still doing something different. 'Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse' is the last album to have the 1960's psych-pop sound (ignoring 'Aldhils Arboretum').
